Special Pieces

Two Dimensional Art

This entire piece is 12 feet long and 12 inches high at its tallest. Modeled on a Mardis Gras Parade, the floats represent  aspects  of the storm's aftermath and some of the rescue attempts.

Crown-Dome

The Superdome was the place where the poorest people ended up. I felt anger at the elite balls and frivolities in a city where there is such extensive poverty. The "babies" , which are hidden in the King Cakes enjoyed in the weeks before Lent, seemed the perfect symbol for the Superdome victims.

Supplies Arriving

Here teabags, normally enjoyed in relaxed company, symbolize the needed supplies that didn't come soon enough.

Housing

The flood destroyed many homes in a city known for its architecture. It seemed important to bring in strings of shotgun houses (initially built for working class people) as soon as possible.
